Mayor’s Column: Neighbors App

The Voorhees Police Department have joined the Neighbors app.

The Voorhees Township Police Department has always been ahead of the curve and embraced innovation and new initiatives to keep our residents informed and safe. The VTPD has joined Neighbors in an effort to connect with residents and improve the safety of our community.

Neighbors is an app that allows the user to share photos, videos and information related to local crime and safety incidents so other residents can stay informed. Our police department can view postings to Neighbors by residents in real time and add relevant updates or safety alerts.  Anyone with a smartphone or tablet can download the Neighbors App at ring.com/neighbors  and receive updates and post photos or videos from any device.

The app brings neighbors together by sharing information and creating a sense of community. The Neighbors App uses your address to create a radius around your home. If anyone shares an alert on the app about crime or safety within that radius, you get a notification on your phone or tablet. Conversely, if you share an alert on the app about a crime or safety issue in your radius, your neighbors will also get a notification on their phones and tablets. You have the ability to set your radius area.

You have full control of who views what you choose to share. Only content you choose to share is accessible to the public and our police. The Neighbors App does not display personal information and does not share personal information with other users of the app or the police.

Our residents are partnering with our police to keep our families safe!

** On Aug. 19, we welcome BeaT Tells, the premier Beatles tribute band. This mind-blowing performance takes you back in time with the legendary foursome delivering a note-for-note theatrical event that is the next best thing to seeing the Beatles. The band recaptures the excitement, the mood and the frantic intensity which evoke memories of the 60’s and 70’s. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. on the “Great Lawn” at Connolly Park. The “Beer Garden” and food trucks will open at 6:00 p.m.  There is also plenty of free parking.

** Voorhees Township is offering discounted tickets to Morey’s Piers in Wildwood. Tickets are available in the Municipal Clerk’s Office at Voorhees Town Hall. Prices vary according to the type of ticket and several options are available to residents and non-residents. For more information about tickets visit voorheesnj.com.
