Harrison Township Recreation Center to host spring concert at Wilt complex

The April 24 event is the second concert held at the Wilt during the pandemic.

The days are longer, flowers are blooming and leaves have started to change color, so it may be time to enjoy spring family fun while listening to music.

The Harrison Township Recreation Commission will host its second concert during the pandemic from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at the William Wilt Soccer Complex. Families are invited to bring their own coolers and games while they practice social distancing.

“When we did it last September, we sold 42 circles, promoted it as a family event and everybody had a blast,” said Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew.

Circles, which comfortably hold up to six family members, cost $30 in advance will be evenly separated throughout the park. Cost is $40 the day of the event if available. Guests are encouraged not to share food and games with other families and to do their best to stay in their own circle.

The event will feature locally owned food trucks 322BBQ and The Crepe Truck, along with live music from the local Gloucester County band Cotton Mouth. The group specializes in country, outlaw country and southern rock music. Magician Bill Kerwood will also perform during the intermission.

“This all came about because of COVID and trying to do something to get people out while still being safe,” Chew said. “Come and enjoy, listen to good music, eat good food and just relax.”

Attendees should park in the paved lot and visit the check-in table near the Veterans Memorial. A recreation commission member will escort guests to their circle. The William Wilt Soccer Complex is located at 162 Walters Road, Mullica Hill.

Rain date for the April 24 concert event is the following day. For more information, visit www.eventbrite.com/e/spring-concert-at-the-wilt-tickets-145112291771 or the Harrison Township Recreation Center’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HarrisonTownshipRecreationCommission

Planned for Sept. 18 is a third concert that will feature an 80s cover band. More details will be released closer to the event.
