Worship will return to the ReFreshed Sanctuary on Sept. 21 at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, after three months of revitalization.
Worship services will begin Rally Sunday, Sept. 21, at 8 a.m. and all will be invited to walk through the Sanctuary from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. before the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Refreshments will be available in the Narthex adjacent to the Sanctuary.
The major refurbishment of the Sanctuary began June 16 of this year with the removal and restoration of the pipe organ. The Steiner-Reck organ was installed in 1981, and consists of 1,144 pipes and a set of chimes. It was removed, repaired and reinstalled, along with a new set of Celeste pipes.
The revitalization campaign, or ReFresh, included new lighting; video and audio system; installation of Chancel hardwood flooring; new carpet; paint throughout the sanctuary chancel and entrance; refinishing the pews; and new pew cushions and reupholstered kneelers.
Reflections Worship, suspended for the summer, will resume at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall on the ground floor, where worship was held this summer during the renovations, in order to accommodate the open house. Reflections Worship will return to the Sanctuary on Sept. 28.
Rally Sunday — traditionally Sunday School registration and classes — will begin at 9 a.m. on the third floor. Sunday school children and teachers gather for the beginning of worship at 10:30 and are dismissed for class by 10:45.
The Adult Bell, Adult Vocal, and Children’s Vocal Choirs, along with instrumentalists, will join in this festive service.
After the 10:30 worship, all who missed the Open House may tour the Sanctuary.
