The Gloucester County Nature Club is hosting two October field trips

An Autumn Walk at Tall Pines Preserve, 1705 Glassboro Road, Sewell, is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Join the Gloucester County Nature Club for a leisurely autumn walk along the trails of Tall Pines State Preserve.

View fall wildflower displays of bright yellow goldenrods and bushy mounds of small white asters that fill the meadows. Butterflies, including monarchs, feed in the meadow on warm sunny fall days and dragonflies patrol the ponds and wetlands.

Look at the many species of trees at Tall Pines in their colorful autumn foliage and be on the lookout for the many species of birds at Tall Pines, such as eastern bluebirds, as well as fall migrants passing through.

Binoculars will come in handy to view both birds and insects — feel free to bring a pair and your camera too. Most trails are paved but if there were recent rains, some unpaved trails could be muddy.

For the safety of all we ask that all participants wear face coverings and maintain reasonable social distance on the trails.

This event will be limited to 25 persons to promote social distancing as we walk. Please register if you plan to attend.

To register, visit www.meetup.com/Gloucester-County-Nature-Club or contact the field trip coordinator at [email protected] or (609) 221-5195.

Meet at the main preserve parking lot on Bark Bridge Road.

An Autumn at Scotland Run Park and Wilson, 980 E. Academy Street, Clayton, is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Amazing autumn colors! Late migrating birds! Fresh air! — All great reasons for a walk in the woods along the lake at Scotland Run Park.

You are invited to join the Gloucester County Nature Club for this autumn morning walk in the park.

Leisurely paced, this walk will allow time to watch and listen for the many songbirds that stop in the woods, to look for hawks passing overhead and to enjoy the colors of a fall morning outdoors.

Due to Covid-19, masks must be worn during the entire walk and participants must stay socially distant from those not from their group. In order to maintain a small group size, participants must register in advance.

Register at www.meetup.com/Gloucester-County-Nature-Club or email [email protected].

Meet in the parking lot by the lake.

Up-to-date field trip information can be found at www.meetup.com/Gloucester-County-Nature-Club.
