Gloucester County’s total of new COVID-19 cases has been consistently in the low teens over the last four days as residents celebrated the holiday weekend.
Gloucester County health officials confirmed 12 new cases on Friday, July 3, 12 on Saturday, July 4, 14 new cases on Sunday, July 5 and 11 new cases on Monday, July 6.
The county has reported double-digit totals of new cases for seven straight days for the first time in nearly a month. However, Gloucester County has also gone more than three weeks since reporting 20 or more new cases in a single day, with daily case totals mostly falling in the teens since mid-June.
Here’s a breakdown of Monday’s 11 new cases by municipality:
- Glassboro – 2
- Harrison Twp. – 2
- Mantua – 1
- Monroe Twp. – 2
- Washington Twp. – 2
- Woodbury – 1
- Woolwich – 1
After reporting a low number of COVID-19 deaths for about two weeks, the county reported five additional deaths on Friday, July 3, the most reported in a single day since mid-May. The deaths included two Deptford residents, a Monroe Twp. resident, a Newfield resident and a Woolwich resident. Four of the five deaths were residents 63 or older.
There was also one COVID-19 death reported each on Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s death was a 59-year-old West Deptford man. Monday’s was a 50-year-old Swedesboro woman.
