MooreUnity fundraiser to support victims of domestic abuse

“We Stand Together — Six Feet Apart” t-shirts are being sold by members of MooreUnity to raise money for Forever Your Overwatch Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization that provides support to people who are at risk of domestic violence. Order your shirt by May 15th at givesignup.org/westandtogether. All proceeds (after printing costs) will be donated.

Nick Luciano runs Forever Your Overwatch Foundation.

“I began looking at the statistics and was shocked to find that just in NJ alone one woman a week is murdered by a former or current partner,” Luciano said prior to the pandemic. “So soon after our mission began.”

Since the mandatory social isolation resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak, people who are victims of domestic abuse are in even more dire straits. The World Economic Forum reports that the United Nations has projected three months of lockdown could result in 15 million cases of domestic abuse worldwide.

The Forever Your Overwatch Foundation is a local organization providing food and supplies to domestic violence shelters and survivors who are struggling with food insecurity during this time. They are also creating discrete “go bags” to those who are attempting to leave very abusive situations. These bags have a smart phone with minutes and security apps loaded, a panic alarm that alerts someone they are in danger, an Uber gift card, visa gift card, a safety plan and anything specific to their situation. For more information on Forever Your Overwatch, visit their website https://fyofoundation.org/

While the primary goal is to raise money for charity, MooreUnity would like as many people in Moorestown as possible to be able to have one of these shirts demonstrating our commitment to each other’s safety and health. Due to a generous donation from an anonymous source, we will have a limited number available at no cost for anyone who is facing financial challenges. Please contact [email protected] to request assistance.
