New online registration launching for 2020-21 kindergarten sign-ups in Washington Township

Parents will be able to sign up their child via a new online platform at Washington Township Public Schools' website

Washington Township Public Schools will open enrollment for 5-year-old students who will begin kindergarten in 2020-21 as well as the tuition-based lottery process for preschool enrollment this spring. Students who are 5-years-old on or before Oct. 1, 2020, are eligible for the district’s full-day kindergarten program. This cut-off date is also applicable for the 3- and 4-year old students applying for the tuition-based lottery preschool program.

Kindergarten registration will launch the district’s new online registration and annual re-enrollment process for all students pre-K through 12th grade. Information regarding these new procedures as well as sign-up procedures for the kindergarten summer snapshot will be shared in the coming weeks when details are finalized. The new process will improve data accuracy while increasing efficiency for all users.

“There are so many benefits to offering enrollment into our schools through an online registration process,” Superintendent of Schools Joe Bollendorf said. “Foremost, this process will provide flexibility and convenience to families who are new to our community. Remote access will allow them to complete requested information and upload documents on their own timeline. The district will realize a savings in money, time and resources. This will be one of the most beneficial ‘green’ initiatives that we have embraced because it will eliminate voluminous printing and paperwork and associated expenses. We have been looking to make this move for several years and are hopeful that the new process will be a win-win for our schools and community.”

Through a log-in via the district website, www.wtps.org, parents and guardians will be guided through a paperless admissions system that will collect required information and ensure that correct processes are implemented. The registration forms also will be accessible from any mobile device. Families will be able to continually update information throughout the school year, allowing for accurate, real-time, on-demand data. The District registrar will remain in place to assist all community members, including currently enrolled families and new registrants, with the process and to verify the submission of required proofs of residency and other mandated documentation, such as birth certificates and immunization records.

Once the implementation process has been completed, the district will more fully communicate the online registration procedure and will share out a video tutorial to the community.
