AWA receives $10,000+ grant

AWA hopes to address overcrowding in shelters and rescues by preventing unwanted litters of cats and dogs

The following is a release by the Animal Welfare Association:

The Animal Welfare Association has been awarded a $10,250 grant from BISSELL Pet Foundation for spay and neuter procedures. The AWA hopes to address overcrowding in shelters and rescues by preventing unwanted litters of cats and dogs.

“Through no fault of their own, wonderful pets end up in the shelter,” BISSELL Pet Foundation Founder Cathy Bissell said. “It’s a heartbreaking reality that BPF works to prevent through funding for spay and neuter. We are committed to helping our partners save lives.”

AWA will have specific spay and neuter days in the coming months, such as on Valentine’s Day. Additional dates will be scheduled on the AWA’s website at www.awanj.org.

“With the grant from the Bissell Pet Foundation we will be able to spay and neuter over 350 animals in Camden county and reduce the overpopulation of homeless animals,” AWA Executive Director Maya Richmond.

With a mission to find every pet at home, BPF focuses their efforts on adoption, spay/neuter, micro chipping and emergency support.
