Scares and beer at bewitching Boos and Brews event

Special to The Sun
The Rancocas Woods Business Association’s Boos and Brews event will benefit revitalization of the Shops at Rancocas Woods and conservation of the Rancocas Woods community on Creek Road.

The Rancocas Woods Business Association – a township nonprofit formed four years ago – will host its second annual Boos and Brews event on Friday, Oct. 4.

The association’s focus is revitalizing the Shops at Rancocas Woods and conserving the Rancocas Woods community on Creek Road. Janeen Hovnenian, director of Rancocas Woods Events, said the association hopes to maintain the shopping area for residents and create a king of main street for Mount Laurel.

“It’s a wonderful piece of New Jersey that’s tucked away,” she said of the Rancocas Woods location. “We’re here to help the township create something that has a downtown environment and feel to it.”

Hovnenian pointed out that proceeds from the event will help promote the shops and the association’s activities.

“The money we raise helps with our marketing and advertising of our shops downtown to the area ,” she explained. “(The proceeds will also go toward) free events we host for the community and some revitalization and redevelopment efforts that we’ve been making on things, like new landscaping we did recently.”

Residents of all ages are welcome at the fundraiser, though activities are solely for those 21 and over. The event is free except for drink tickets. Live music and a beer garden are included, along with alcoholic beverages provided by the local businesses Dr. Brewlittle’s and Wagonhouse Winery. The Patti Wagon truck will provide food.

Boos and Brews will feature a costume contest throughout the evening; winners will be announced at 8:15 p.m. Also coinciding with the event’s second year is a Witches Market that will offer attendees a variety of Halloween-related vendors and activities, including Tarot card readers, wands and glow-in-the-dark henna.

Hovnanian emphasized that residents must bring a state I.D. to be served alcohol and should plan a safe way to get home.

Hours for Boos and Brews are 6 to 9 p.m at 118 Creek Road. Rain date is Saturday. Follow the Rancocas Woods Business Association social media pages for more announcements and information on fundraisers at www.rancocaswoodseventsnshops.com/rw-business-association
