Our community mourns the passing of former Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt.
Bernie has been a pillar of our community for the last half century and served the town that he loved, as mayor, from 1979 to 1980 and again from 2002 to 2012. I had the honor and privilege of working alongside the mayor as council president.
As a successful business owner, community leader and elected official he has left an indelible mark on the township and our community. Bernie loved being the mayor of Cherry Hill and Cherry Hill loved him back. The funeral procession brought him by town hall one final time, with local elected officials and first responders paying their respects.
On behalf of the residents of Cherry Hill and township council, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Platt family and express gratitude for his years of service.
