The highly-anticipated Philadelphia Flyers Community Day drew individuals and families to the team’s Voorhees training center on July 24 to promote community engagement between residents and businesses.
Both families and individuals took part in a variety of activities during the Skate Zone event, which ran from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Among attractions was a free public skating session for skaters of all ages, and the Flyers’ Community Caravan offered contests and activities that kept both kids and adults entertained, including interactive games. The Training Aspects obstacle course challenged participants to test their agility and fitness.
Winners of prize raffles at Community Day took home autographed Flyers’ pucks; a Warriors gift basket; and an Ultimate Adult Hockey League basket, among others. Mayor Michael Mignogna attended the event and expressed pride in the township’s long-standing association with the Flyers.
“Voorhees has proudly served as the practice home for the Flyers for decades,” he said.
