Farm-to-table dinner unlocks creative possibilities

The Rancocas Creek Farm grows farm-fresh, chemical-free food that is high quality, diverse in nature, seasonal and always fresh for the consumer.

A farm-to-table dinner hosted by the Pinelands Preservation Alliance will be held at Rancocas Creek Farm on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The dinner will take place between 5 and 8 p.m. and will showcase fresh, seasonal, sustainable local food from farmers within 100 miles of the event site. The story behind each course will be discussed throughout the evening.

The event includes a gourmet meal, locally brewed beer, regionally sourced fine wines, a specialty cocktail, locally roasted coffee and dessert. Seating is family style at long tables in the Rancocas Creek Farm’s soaring loft.

Farmers for the evening will include Jeff Tober, manager at Rancocas Creek Farm, a regenerative chemical-free operation run by the alliance in Southampton that grows food using organic methods; and Fred and Danielle Wainwright of Clover Valley Family Farm, a third-generation, pasture-raised beef farm in Vincentown.

The Wainwrights started their beef herd in 2012 and found their forever home farm in Southampton. They are passionate about the health and well-being of all livestock and providing superior products.

The culinary staff of Jeffrey A. Miller Catering will use ingredients from farms within a 100-mile radius of the Rancocas Creek Farm. The challenge has led them down some creative culinary paths.

The dinner is expected to help spread the word about the value and creative possibilities of enjoying locally-grown ingredients from regenerative farms, alliance representatives said, and to benefit the alliance’s work to promote regenerative, chemical-free farming in and around the Pinelands region.

Rancocas Creek Farm consists of 72 acres at the Tabernacle offices of the alliance, property donated to the organization by Cindy Yingling and Louis and Chris Eni. The alliance launched a project in 2020 to grow farm-fresh, chemical-free and high-quality food that is diverse in nature, seasonal and fresh for the consumer, according to its website.

Another goal of the alliance was to manage stormwater with tree plantings, permanent covers and cover crops. Rancocas Creek Farm is near the Jade Run and the South Branch of the Rancocas Creek. The farm has historically had flooding issues that at times have caused flooding in Vincentown and the creek.

The farm also promotes environmental stewardship of soils and water and promotes biodiversity in general.
