Shawnee High School senior Aidan Kehoe, 18, is the guitarist for the band Wring Me Out, a group making a name for itself in the local hard rock music scene.
Its latest single, “Work Boots and High Heels,” has reached more than 1,000 streams in less than a month. The band’s first rock-infused extended play (EP), “Playing Possum,” was released in March, and at first listen, it may sound reminiscent of Linkin Park and Evanescence.
Kehoe takes an active role in writing, producing, and mixing the tracks.
“I love producing,” said the 18-year-old. “However, nothing beats playing in front of an energetic crowd for me.”
Members of Wring Me Out also include 18-year-old Audubon resident and vocalist Cole Clark, a student at the Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT); and 19-year-old Elle Taube, who plays bass and joined the group in 2019. She attends Berklee College of Music in Boston.
The youngest member of the posse is 16-year-old Derek Mosetter of Blackwood, who plays the drums and, like Taube, joined the band in 2019. The band mates met at the Cherry Hill School of Rock, though Clark and Kehoe have known each other for eight years.
“School of Rock helped me gain stage experience as well as other musical experiences that have helped me grow into the musician I am,” Kehoe recalled of his time there.
Now three to four years in with the band, Kehoe notes that it’s all a team effort.
“We all play a crucial part in the songwriting process,” he noted, “and our songs wouldn’t be what they are without all of us.”
From start to finish, the listener can be drawn to the melodic yet gritty vocals as well as the rebellious energy of the guitar in “Playing Possum.”
After graduation, Kehoe has “hopes to attend college for music production/audio engineering.”
