Moorestown native Zoe Cultrara – a rising senior at the University of Richmond – has received a 2024 Udall Undergraduate Scholarship for her environmental activism.
The scholarship identifies future leaders in conservation and environmental issues as well as Native American policy and health care. Cultrara, who was selected in the environmental category, joins a network of scholars and alumni leading environmental efforts and will receive $7,000 to support her academic career.
Cultrara is an environmental studies major with a double minor in rhetoric and communication studies and visual arts. At the University of Richmond, she has participated in various sustainability efforts, including GreenUR, a student-led environmental advocacy group. That work earned her the 2023 Activism for Change Award from the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
Cultrara is one of 55 students across the country who received the Udall Scholarship in 2024.
“I am honored to be recognized as one of the Udall scholars across the nation,” she said. “Being part of a network of scholars who are just as dedicated to environmental work as I am is extremely meaningful and inspiring.
“I plan to continue my advocacy efforts on campus,” Cultrara added, “and to continue building toward a career where I can improve environmental education and contribute to the cultural shift we need to garner more support for sustainable initiatives.”
