The Junior Police Academy in Cherry Hill is accepting registrations for a week-long program designed to instruct youth on law enforcement, public safety and teamwork.
Participants will engage in hands-on activities, meet local officers and gain insights into police operations. The academy curriculum is developed by the police to emphasize physical fitness, being drug free and other qualities.
Activities throughout the week will include lessons in drill and ceremony, physical training, school safety and bullying, drug awareness, traffic safety, an introduction to special units, crime scene processing, fingerprinting and first aid. Participants will also tour the juvenile detention center and Cherry Hill Fire Department Central Command.
The week will begin on Monday, July 29, and conclude with a formal graduation ceremony on that Friday afternoon. The program is limited to 40 township residents, new cadets only. Register at https://chnj.gov/jpa.
