The search is underway for Delran’s next superintendent of schools.
Dr. Lisa Della Vecchia has been serving a one-year term as interim head that is effective through June 30. She transitioned into the role after Superintendent Dr. Brian Brotschul left the district last summer.
The Delran board of education strongly encourages school employees, parents, students, and community members to participate in the process of developing a profile for the next leader, according to the district website. Help will also come from the search firm Strategic Education Advantage.
The profile development process will include virtual and in-person forums. The first step is to begin collecting candidate profile preferences via an online survey that will identify qualifications important to stakeholders, the website indicates. The 15-question survey is available on the district’s website through Feb. 3.
It will measure whether or not the new leader should have experience as a superintendent and a clear vision of what is needed to provide an exemplary education to all students. Survey participants will also have a chance to add other qualities they think the superintendent candidate should possess.
The candidate profile should indicate a potential superintendent’s ability to provide timely and transparent two-way communication and encourage growth and achievement for every student, regardless of socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Strategic Education Advantage held an in-person meeting to discuss the superintendent search on Jan. 29. For future dates or more information, visit www.delranschools.org.
