First Methodist Church (FMC) in Moorestown will hold its second annual health and wellness fair at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
“If people left just feeling more well equipped to live the life that they’re trying to live, that would be a huge success for us,” said associate pastor Rev. Jessica Campbell. “We really want this to not just be theoretical, but something that can be lived out and practical.”
The fair will focus on various holistic ways to improve physical, mental and emotional well-being, how to develop healthy habits and how to help others.
“We really, really worked to make it a mixture, and we were very conscientious this year of trying to provide something for pretty much all age levels,” Campbell explained. “We want people – whether you’re concerned about the best health for your pet, to senior living, to really all ages – was our goal.”
The Rev. Dr. Rich Hendrickson will open the event with his presentation “Daily R.E.P.S. – Behaviors and Habits for Life.” He will discuss the need for routine practices that strengthen our relational, emotional, physical and spiritual ways of being. But there’s something else that Campbell is happy about.
“I am thrilled also that we are going to be able to offer free child care for all of our attendees,” she noted. “ … If you have little ones, we will happily keep them busy and entertained while you’re attending the classes.”
Participants can choose two sessions led by experts in their fields. The seminars and demonstrations will cover topics that include health coaching and intuitive eating, advances in mental health, pet health, aging, healthy coping methods, yoga and nutritious meal prep. A training session for nasal Naloxone will also be offered.
Guests can browse health and wellness-related vendors between sessions and participate in health screenings.
“This year I am very excited that we have 12 different classes that we’re offering,” Campbell said.
They include Release and Relax Yoga, A Dietitian’s Definition of Healthy Eating, Grab-n-Go healthier meal prep options, Your Pet’s Health, Spiritual Health, advances in understanding mental health, a healthy coping workshop and mental health for first responders. The sessions will be offered twice so attendees can pick two. Class descriptions can be found on FMC’s website. The sessions will be offered twice so attendees can pick two. This event was designed to meet the needs of the community, among other things, and it’s something that’s important to Campbell.
“I think that life is very holistic, and how we are mentally and emotionally and physically all links together,” she noted. “Whether people come – and they want tools for mental health or emotional health or spiritual health – we have all of those classes being offered, and I think when we take steps toward a healthier way of being in any of those areas, it helps us in all of them.”
