Moorestown has met the rigorous requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey silver certification.
Certified towns were announced on Nov. 14 at the Sustainable Jersey annual luncheon on Nov. 14 in Atlantic City. Sustainable Jersey’s participating communities represent more than 83% of the state’s municipalities.
“Obtaining the prestigious Sustainable NJ Silver Certification is a great honor and also a great amount of work,” said Councilwoman Sue Mammarella. “Thank you to Moorestown’s Green Team for their dedication to conserving our valuable resources and creating a better future for all Moorestonians.”
For the 2023 Sustainable Jersey application cycle, 20 towns achieved certification at the more advanced silver level, 70 in all. The certification requires that a town meet a minimum of 350 points.
“We’re proud to recognize the 2023 award winners and certified towns who have made sustainability an integral part of their municipality,” noted Randall Solomon, director of Sustainable Jersey.”
Certified towns excel in areas such as improving energy efficiency, health and wellness, reducing waste, sustaining local economies, protecting natural resources and advancing the arts.
