Shamong Township residents headed to the polls Nov. 7

Voters in Shamong Township went to the polls on Nov. 7 and elected members of the governing body/board of education.

The Burlington County Clerk’s Office has posted results from the election on its website. All of the election results are unofficial and will remain unofficial until a vote counting process that could take more than a week has been completed.

The totals as of Nov. 8 do not include late mail-in ballots and provisional ballots, which are expected to be tallied later this week.

Shamong Township Committee

One, three-year seat was open on the Shamong committee in the general election on Nov. 7.

Republican candidate Megan Mozitis ran unopposed for her first elected seat. She received 1,122 votes. There were 15 personal choice votes.

No petition was filed for the Democratic seat available during the June primary.

Shamong Township Board of Education

Two, three-year-term seats were available on the Shamong board of education in the general election on Nov. 7. There were five candidates, including two incumbents.

As of Nov. 8, Timothy S. McGarvey, Mary Kathryn “MK” O’Brien, and incumbent Anne Ehrke are in the lead with 507 votes, 477 votes, and 388 votes, respectively.

Renee Collins has received 348 votes and incumbent Melissa Ciliberti, who has been on the board for almost 15 years, has received 336 votes. There are 10 personal choice votes.
