Counselors are on hand at Palmyra Police headquarters, 20 West Broad St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday for those struggling with substance abuse as part of the Straight to Treatment program. No appointment or insurance is needed, just walk right in and be helped.

Epworth United Methodist Church is holding its fourth annual Basket Extravaganza at the church, 501 Morgan Ave. from Oct. 19-22. Walk through the maze and bid on over 40 baskets. Each is valued at least $50 and up. Past baskets have included a designer handbag, a multi-pot cooker, a shore vacation getaway, jewelry, children’s toys, gourmet food basket, pet baskets and so much more. The proceeds of this fundraiser go to a variety of local and global organizations and missions.

The monthly seniors lunch event is held every third Tuesday at the Christ Episcopal Church Parish House, 4th and Howard St., Riverton. The next lunch is from noon to 2 p.m., Oct. 17. All are invited for the free lunch and can bring a friend. A chair lift is available. If you need a ride or know someone who does call SEN HAN Transportation at (877) 603-5111 to register.
The lunch is free of charge, but donations are welcome. Next lunch dates are Nov. 21, and Dec. 19.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen and have a valid New Jersey driver’s license. Applications can be picked up at police headquarters.
