Walk with Mullica Hill’s ghosts

Tours will depart every 10 minutes from event sponsor blueplate restaurant

The Harrison Township Historical Society will host its popular ghost walk on Saturday, Oct. 7. The event will showcase Mullica Hill’s haunted history with a 90-minute tour of the township’s historic homes and public buildings along Main Street.

The Jersey Unique Minds Paranormal Society (JUMPS) will be on hand to conduct a live broadcast of its paranormal radio show, “Paradelphia at Old Town Hall.”

Tours will depart every 10 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. from event sponsor blueplate restaurant, at 47 South Main St. Tickets are $10 per person at Ticket Leap. For an early tour time, they should be purchased in advance; some tickets will be sold at the tour.

Families are welcome and children in strollers do not require a ticket. Guests are encouraged to bring flashlights, cameras, and comfortable walking shoes. All proceeds benefit the historical society.

If the event is cancelled due to severe weather or state pandemic restrictions, tickets will be refunded. While wearing masks is not required, the CDC recommends wearing one at crowded outdoor events and anyone who is COVID symptomatic should not attend.

The tour is limited to the number of volunteer guides available. Some guests will be wait-listed at blue plate’s parking lot starting at 5:30 p.m. and throughout the event if tickets sell out. Attendance expected at the walk is about 800 people.

Businesses along Main Street have off-street parking lots behind their properties. The largest are at Naples Pizza and behind OKKA Karate. The parking lot directly behind blueplate’s restaurant will be closed to cars to serve as a staging area for the tour groups. The overflow parking at blueplate will be open.

Due to Route 45’s (Main Street) heavy traffic, it is suggested guests use the designated crossing areas at the following locations, where volunteers will be on hand to assist: Route 45 at Route 77, Route 45 at the traffic light at the Old Mill, and Route 45 at Woodland Avenue. Guests are asked to walk only in the designated areas.

Some businesses will be open later for the ghost walk, including blueplate and Naples, both of which will serve food.
