Runners take their marks for Octoberfest 5K

Race proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Haddonfield Lions Club will host its third annual Octoberfest 5K on Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at Kings Highway and Park Boulevard in Cherry Hill, near The Mews townhome complex.

Entrants can register online, in person and at the Haddonfield Running Store on Friday, Oct. 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., or on race day from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. King’s Road Brewing Company is again providing all racers with a light breakfast and post-race awards ceremony.

Race proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a global organization that advances breakthroughs for Type 1 diabetes. Guests will be able to interact with JDRF representatives at information tables located pre-race near the course start line and post-race at the brewery.

This year’s 5K run follows the same course used by the Haddonfield Memorial High School cross-country team through Maria Barnaby Greenwald Park, some of which is a trail run. The race finish line will also be located on Park Boulevard and all participants will receive a 5K race shirt and swag bag. Awards will be presented to overall male and female winners and age-group winners.
