An 80-year-old Franklinville man died after a four-car collision on County Route 655 (Fries Mill Road on Sept. 7, according to the Monroe Township Police Department.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2011 GMC Sierra driven by Robert Reddie was traveling on County Route 655 approaching its intersection with U.S 322 (Glassboro Road.
A 2007 GMC Dump Truck, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2020 Cadillac XT6 were all stopped in traffic facing north in the area of 2079 Fries Mill Road, police said.
As the GMC Sierra approached the area, Reddie failed to perceive the stopped vehicles and the front of the Sierra contacted the rear of the dump truck. The force from the collision caused the dump truck to travel forward and make contact with the rear of the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee to move forward to make contact with the rear of the Cadillac.
A 52-year-old Clayton woman in the Grand Cherokee suffered minor injuries. There were no other reported injuries.
Monroe Township police were assisted at the scene by Gloucester County EMS (emergency medical services), Inspira Medics, the Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s Office and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
