Counselors are on hand at Palmyra Police headquarters, 20 West Broad St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday for those struggling with substance abuse as part of the Straight to Treatment program. No appointment or insurance is needed, just walk right in and be helped.

Strides Against Sepsis, a non-profit organization, will hold its annual Sepsis Awareness Walk at Legion Field in Palmyra. Registration is free and begins at 8 a.m. Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 17.

The walk honors Palmyra resident Helen I. Ganges, who passed away from Sepsis in 2016. T-shirts are available for pre-sale. For more information visit stridesnj.org or email [email protected].

A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Infectious Disease Department at Jefferson Hospital.

Monday, Sept. 18

Borough Council meeting at 6:30 p.m., Palmyra Borough Hall, 20 West Broad St.

Tuesday, Sept. 19

The monthly seniors lunch event is held every third Tuesday at the Chrit Episcopal Church Parish House, 4th and Howard St., Riverton. The next lunch is from noon to 2 p.m., Sept. 19. All are invited for the free lunch and can bring a friend. A chair lift is available. If you need a ride or know someone who does call SEN HAN Transportation at (877) 603-5111 to register.

The lunch is free of charge, but donations are welcome. Next lunch dates are Oct. 17, Nov. 21, and Dec. 19.

Saturday, Sept. 30

Palmyra Fire Department will host its fourth annual craft beer festival from noon to 4 p.m., 115 W. Borad St. Tickets are $30 per person (includes cup and three beer tickets) and $10 for non drinkers. Kids 12 and under are free. SQUID Band will be playing and Smoke Addiction BBQ food truck will be available for food purchases. For more information contact (856) 829-0020.

The Palmyra Police Department is hiring and looking for certified and SLEO II candidates for full time employment. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen and have a valid New Jersey driver’s license. Applications can be picked up at police headquarters. Charles Street Child Care (CSCC) registration for grades K through 5 is open for the 2023-34 school year. Before-Care now available starting at 7 a.m. After-Care available from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. Please note that if you need child care for a preschool student, they must attend Palmyra Preschool at Delaware Avenue.  The YMCA runs the program for preschoolers.
