County warns of Sheriff Office scam

The scammers even “spoof” the phone number to be the number for the Sheriff’s Office in order to look official however, most of the phone conversation will be conducted from another number.

The scammers state the individuals have a bench warrant, need to pay bond/bail, a fine for missing jury duty, or a fee for a civil service. The scammers request payment to avoid your arrest. The scammer then directs the individual to make a payment at a local “kiosk”. In some cases, the scammer requests a payment through a third-party phone app, (CashApp, Zelle, etc.).
