Medford man charged with DUI, aggravated assault

A 44-year-old Medford Township man was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after a single motor vehicle crash Aug. 24, according to the Medford Township Police Department.

Police responded to Tuckerton Road near Heath Road for a report of the vehicle crash at 5:54 p.m. Responding officers located a black Chevrolet Corvette that had let the roadway and entered an adjacent ditch, police said.

During the on-scene investigation, the Medford man was determined to be the driver and sole occupant.

Further investigation determined the man was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. The man allegedly resisted arrest, police said.

Due to location of crash, Tuckerton Road near the crash scene was closed for approximately one hour.

The man was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath testing and failure to maintain a lane of travel, police said.
