The Cherry Hill Chapter of Art Goes To School (AGTS) is seeking volunteers to join their team. People of all ages who love working with children and are excited about art become volunteer member of AGTS. No teaching or art experience is necessary – AGTS provides orientation to its volunteer members at weekly meetings to prepare innovative lessons for students. After orientation, a schedule of classroom visits is prepared, members choose the day, time and grade that is best for their schedule to present the traveling museum. Typically, volunteers give approximately three hours of time per month, presenting and discussing the art in one or two classes in each school.
In addition, Art Goes To School members can partake in benefits such as special events, museum trips, art lectures, and networking. Become a part of an exciting group and meet new people with similar interests! Please contact AGTS Cherry Hill Chapter President, Libby DeLuca at 609-280-0333 or [email protected] for more information. Art Goes to School of Delaware Valley, Inc. | Making fine art accessible to elementary school students since 1962.
AGTS is a volunteer art appreciation program serving schools in the Delaware Valley. Reproductions of art from around the world and across the ages are brought into classrooms, like a traveling museum. Children are encouraged to look, listen and talk about the artwork while sharpening their visual acuity, investigative and communication skills. The Cherry Hill chapter of AGTS offers this free program to grades 1 to 5 in the Cherry Hill School District, reaching approximately 9,000 students each school year. Children learn about art from cave paintings to contemporary works.
