Mantua Police Crime Log for June 2023

  • On June 1, Patrolman Wolfsgruber apprehended a fugitive wanted by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office during a motor vehicle stop in front of Target on Woodbury Glassboro Road. 
  • Detective Lawrence is investigating the fraudulent usage of license plates reported to our department on June 1. 
  • Also, on June 1 Patrolman Riepen and Patrolman Cirone apprehended a Mantua man who was a wanted person in possession of a large quantity of a Controlled Dangerous Substances for distribution during an investigation on Tristram Circle. 
  • On June 2 Detective Krieger and Sergeant Crispin’s team apprehended three suspects from Gloucester City and Camden City who had stolen over $6,000.00 worth of merchandise from both the Home Depot and Kohl’s. These suspects were also in possession of CDS and had endangered the welfare of a juvenile. 
  • Patrolman Robertson is investigating the theft of a Kayak that was stolen from a Galahad Court Residence on June 3. 
  • Patrolman Cirone is investigating a shoplifting that occurred at the Kohl’s on June 5. The suspects stole approximately $1,000.00 in vacuums and fled the area. When a Harrison Township Officer attempted to stop the stolen gray Jeep from Wilmington Delaware, the suspect eluded his attempt and fled the area.  
  • Patrolman Cirone is investigating a burglary and theft to an unlocked vehicle that occurred overnight on May 7 in the Snowy Owl Development.  
  • On June 6, Patrolman Riepen foiled a possible theft of an electric scooter from a residence in the 400 block of Berkley Road.  
  • Sergeant Mroz is investigating a theft by deception case which was reported on June 6, where the victim was scammed into sending money via UPS to someone claiming to be the FBI. Sergeant Mroz warns everyone to never send money to anyone as a way to avoid any prosecution, especially if you have never done anything wrong. 
  • Corporal Bair apprehended a male who had assaulted his significant other at the Wawa on Bridgeton Pike on June 8.  
  • On June 8, Sergeant Crispin and Patrolman Sweeney were conducting a patrol of the Home Depot and Kohls when they observed two subjects loading items into a U-Haul, when they attempted to stop the suspects, the suspects. 

fled and eluded police in a car chase then a foot chase. The suspects were found to be in possession of over $2,000.00 worth of stolen merchandise from the Home Depot.  

  • On June 9 someone stole a framed and signed Bryce Harper (MVP) jersey from Total Turf. Patrolman Cirone identified and apprehended the Sicklerville man who had stolen the jersey.  
  • On the evening of June 9 at the Wawa on Bridgeton Pike, a male was robbed at gunpoint of his 2018 Mercedes Benz. The two young black male suspects pointed a firearm at the male and demanded his vehicle and fled the area north on Bridgeton Pike. This incident is being investigated by the Mantua Township Detective Bureau.  
  • While investigating a suspicious incident in the parking lot of Ceres Park on May 8, Patrolman Cirone identified a male who was wanted out of Pennsylvania. The male was apprehended and remanded back to Pennsylvania on his active warrant.  
  • Patrolman Cirone is investigating the overdose death of a Camden Female on Main Street on June 10.  
  • On June 10 a Topeka Avenue resident’s tires were slashed by an unknown suspect, Patrolman Riepen is investigating.  
  • On June 11, Patrolman Wolfsgruber conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the Wawa on Bridgeton Pike, where he found the male from West Deptford to have numerous active warrants and be in possession of Cocaine and Methamphetamine. 
  • On June 12, Patrolman Hassleman apprehended a Mantua man who was wanted for violating a temporary restraining order.  
  • Patrolman Sweeney is investigating the theft of a large quantity of prescription medication that was taken from an Apple Blossom Lane residence on June 12.  
  • On June 13, Patrolman Sweeney conducted a motor vehicle stop in the Home Depot parking lot and apprehended a Trenton man who was wanted out of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  
  • On June 14, Patrolman Cirone investigated the theft of Golf Clubs worth approximately $4,500.00 from a Mantua Residence. The theft occurred on June 1 at the Pitman Golf Course. 
  • Patrolman Sweeney is investigating damage done to the cable lines of a residence on E. Mercer Avenue. On June 14 an unknown male cut the cable lines. 
  • Patrolman Hassleman is investigating a burglary to a residence that occurred on June 15 on Marathon Drive.  
  • On June 16, Corporal Bair apprehended the driver of the street sweeper in the parking lot of the Lowes on Woodbury Glassboro Road who was intoxicated while operating the street sweeper and had damaged property on the lot.  
  • On June 16, Lieutenant Hauss charged an Oak Valley man who was attempting to steal a lawn mower from a property on South West Avenue in Wenonah.  
  • Also on June 16, Patrolman Sweeney investigated another theft by deception, where a Mantua resident was scammed out of approximately $2,000.00 by someone claiming to hold their Facebook account Ransom. Patrolman Sweeney warns everyone that reputable companies do not take payment in the form of I-Tunes or Target gift cards over the phone.  
  • On June 17, Corporal Bair investigated another Tire Slashing in the Center City section of Mantua Township, now on Montgomery Drive. The suspect in both slashings was identified and charged.  
  • On June 18, Patrolman Robertson apprehended a Deptford man for driving while intoxicated on Bridgeton Pike in the area of Heritage Road. 
  • Corporal Bair is investigating a shoplifting by an unknown female from the Rite Aide on Bridgeton Pike on June 18. 
  • One Vehicle was entered, and one vehicle was stolen from the 200 block of S. Clinton Avenue in Wenonah on June 20. The stolen vehicle was located in Wilmington Delaware. The incident is being investigated by the Mantua Township Detective Bureau.  
  • Patrolman Wolfsgruber is investigating the theft of a dog collar that occurred on June 20 on West Monroe Avenue in Mantua. 
  • On June 22, Patrolman Wolfsgruber responded to a burglary in progress on Mockingbird Lane. Upon his arrival he located and apprehended a male and female suspect from Pitman and Mantua respectively. The Pitman Man was also a wanted person by Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
  • Patrolman Cirone is investigating the theft of Amazon packages from a residence on East Mantua Avenue in Wenonah on June 25. Over $100 worth of Drinking glasses and rice pots were stolen. 
  • On June 28 at approximately 1500 hours a Wenonah resident’s vehicle was burglarized while parked on Seneca Drive. Earlier in the day, a suspicious black BMW with Virginia plates was seen in the area on E Mantua Avenue. The incident is being investigated by Patrolman Schnarr.  
  • On June 29, Patrolman Wolfsgruber conducted a motor vehicle stop on Tyler Mill Road where he apprehended a Philadelphia man, and a male and female from Westville who were in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were wanted persons. 
  • On June 30, Sergeant Crispin, Corporal Bair, Patrolman Kappre and Detective Krieger apprehended a Woodstown man and a Camden female who had shoplifted over $2,000.00 worth of merchandise from the Kohl’s on Bridgeton Pike. The male had eluded the officers and was apprehended by Sergeant Crispin after a foot chase. The male was found to be in possession of cocaine.  
  • Corporal Bair is investigating a shoplifting of perfumes and colognes worth $1,400.00 from the Kohl’s on June 30.
