At the Dec. 13 board meeting, the Moorestown Township Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Joseph Bollendorf as interim superintendent.
Mr. Bollendorf most recently served as the Superintendent of Schools for Washington Township Public Schools (Gloucester County) prior to retiring in June 2022. During his 39-year career in public education, he has also been a classroom teacher and building principal. He currently serves as the President of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) and has been a member of their executive board for the past seven years. Mr. Bollendorf is a consultant for Rowan College of New Jersey where he strives to help address the ever-growing problem of teacher shortages throughout our state and is engaged in work related to developing a Model Code of Ethics for Educators.
“The board is thrilled to have found an interim superintendent of Mr. Bollendorf’s caliber and with his extensive experience to lead the district during the search for our next permanent superintendent,” said Board President Mick Weeks. “We are confident that he is the right person to continue the progress we are making and finish out the school year in a strong manner.”
Mr. Bollendorf’s contract is through June 30, 2023, while the board of education continues to search for a successor superintendent. A request for proposals has been issued to find a company to assist with the search.
