The Moorestown Business Association will host its annual Autumn in Moorestown festival on Main Street on Oct. 8.
“I want it to be a destination that once (people) know it’s happening, they put it on the calendar, just because it’s just fun,” said Craig Dennin, MBA president and festival chair.
Crafts, Cruise and Brews will feature an antique and classic car show, craft-beer vendors, handmade crafts, food and family friendly activities.
“The vendors will be those that make their own merchandise, so a lot of it’s considered artwork and other things handmade like crochet, jewelry – you name it,” Dennin said. “This has infused artwork into it, so we try to concentrate on the artwork end of it if we can.”
Entertainment will include an appearance from the Mummers’ Ferko String Band on Main Street, starting at Church, and live music.
“We have a live band on the community house lawn who will play probably about four or five hours of the day,” Dennin noted. “We have another two-piece duo that plays further down that everybody’s liked over the years, so there’s always music in the air.”
Kids activities include face painting, inflatables and scarecrow building.
“That’s actually hosted by the Moorestown fire department on the lawn of the community house,” Dennin said. “Our band will be up front of the lawn towards the street, and the scarecrow building is in the back.”
Dennin shared what he loves about Moorestown’s fall event.
“It’s seeing it come to be,” he acknowledged. “ … When I walk around, I go up and down the streets and I see everybody literally having a ball, just enjoying it … Groups of people (just) stop and mingle and talk to each other.”
“It’s really morphing into a family thing.”
And an event people won’t want to miss, Dennin said.
“It’s so fun, and that’s what I personally get out of it, that’s my reward, seeing it go off and at the end everybody saying, ‘That was awesome,’” he added.
Dennin described the day as one where locals can unwind.
“The beer and wine is definitely an added attraction,” he said. “If mom or dad or anybody wants to walk down the street with a glass of wine or a beer, they can, and it’s just relaxing …
“The whole street is so alive.”
