Tree Committee resumes pruning project

Volunteers needed to trim low hanging branches.

This year, the Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee, with the help of volunteers, will continue a tree pruning project. Each Thursday morning at 9 a.m. for about an hour (weather permitting through September) they go to areas of town identified by the committee and trim low hanging branches to improve the health of the street trees and the appearance of the neighborhood.

The trimmed branches are left by the curb to be picked up by public works on the next brush pick up date. The areas are selected and done with the brush pick up calendar in mind to ensure brush is not left in an area for long.

So if you see a group of people trimming your neighborhood street trees, or placing the branches by the curb, wave and say thank you. Better yet, grab your gloves and lend a hand in improving your neighborhood.

Volunteers are needed. If you’d like to help with the tree pruning project, contact the committee at [email protected]. You’ll be added to the list to receive the weekly email letting you know where to meet.

So get outside, get some fresh air, some exercise and improve your neighborhood. An added attraction – many volunteers meet at the Pie Lady after pruning for a snack.
