The Moorestown Democrats have selected Mayor Nicole Gillespie and Councilman Quinton Law as their candidates for this year’s town council race.
“I cannot think of two more qualified, dedicated candidates to run for re-election,” said Kate Wilson, chair of the Moorestown Democrats. “Their commitment to public service and track records both on council and in the community are strong and they are worthy of having another four years on council to continue the work they are spearheading.”
Mayor Gillespie, who took office in 2018 and has served as mayor of Moorestown since January 2020, guided the town through the pandemic, ensuring residents stayed informed about the risks and realities of the disease while teaming up with small businesses to maintain their place as the heart of the local community. She also spearheaded efforts to make the town more environmentally friendly and has prioritized putting communication between Council and residents at the forefront of the agenda.
Councilman Law won a special election last November to serve out the remainder of the term for a vacant seat on town council, emphasizing his ability to bridge divides within the community while ensuring the success of local businesses and maintaining a clean environment. As a founding member of the Better Together task force, he helped prioritize the concerns of residents from all walks of life and ensured that more Moorestonians than ever would have a seat at the table in the decision-making process.
Both Mayor Gillespie and Councilman Law are committed to running a campaign free of personal attacks against their opponents, with full financial transparency and call on any other candidates who choose to run in this election to make the same commitment. They have already promised to participate in public forums and debates that allow residents to hear directly from candidates about the issues voters care most about and respectfully request that anyone else considering running for council will do the same.
