The Washington Township Green Team is collaborating with many other organizations across the township to create a jam packed calendar for ‘Earth Month’ this April!
April 2nd: The township will be holding a Shred Day event between 9 a.m. to noon through the public works department at the municipal building.
April 4th: The library will be holding a lecture by Emily Wilmont who will be doing a presentation on nesting birds. It will take place 7 p.m.
April 7th: The library is dedicating one of its novel morning events to a book on climate change, fiction. ‘End of the Ocean’ by Maja Lunde is a novel about how climate change impacts the lives of several people generations apart. This will take place at 11:30 a.m.
April 9:The Green Team will be hosting an event outside of Shoprite to remind everyone about the plastic bag ban. They will be reminding patrons about bringing reusable bags.
April 23: There will be a bird walk at Washington Lake Park done in conjunction with the Gloucester County nature club at 7:30 a.m.
Then at 11 a.m. the library is sponsoring the Woodford Cedar Run Wildife refugee children’s program about baby animals growing up in the wild. Please register in advance with the library.
April 24: There will be a tree giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon where people can drive up and pick up trees at Washington Lake Park.
April 30: An event will be held with the South Jersey Water Trust to help remove invasive plant species at Washington Lake Park from 9 a.m. to noon.
Throughout the month of April there will be a display in the library on plastic pollution and the plastic bag ban. It will touch on everything that is involved with the ban including the elimination of paper bags and styrofoam food containers.
