Medford Township council held its regular agenda meeting on March 1, while on March 8, the town also held a budget workshop meeting open to the public through the online streaming platform.
During the regular session of the earlier meeting, council went over regular agenda items; there were no special presentations or communications. For the manager’s report, Kathy Burger shared information such as the clerk’s office approval of a bingo raffle and 50/50 and licenses for the Medford Home and School Association for an event in April at Camp Ockanickon. Approval was also granted for a daily Pull Tab License at the Medford VFW Post 7677.
Dillon Webb was approved as a new volunteer EMS at station 258, part of a volunteer increase praised by Mayor Charles “Chuck” Watson.
“Thank him for volunteering,’’ Watson said. “Our volunteers are very important. I say that all the time and mean it. Thank you Dillon.”
Ordinance 2022-23 was also approved at the meeting to set salaries as individuals earn raises.
“It’s something that we do not always do on an annual basis, but every couple years,” Watson noted.
Burger added that the ordinance also addresses any change in an employee’s position or title. At the end of its March 1 meeting, council went into executive session, but no action was taken.
In other news, food trucks on Main Street will be back in downtown Medford on St. Patrick’s Day from 5 to 9 p.m. For April 1, there is the Medford First Friday and Art Walk along Main Street from 6 to 9 p.m. It is sponsored by the Main Street Merchants and the Medford Arts Center.
MYAA (Medford Youth Athletic Association) has its opening day on Saturday, April 2, and the annual Easter egg hunt is Saturday, April 9, starting at 11 a.m. at Freedom Park. That event is sponsored by the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club. An Earth Day observance and town wide yard sale at Freedom Park will take place on Saturday, April 30.
The next Medford council meeting will be held on March 15.
