Gloucester County job center continues to assist unemployed residents

The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners and the workforce development board have free career services at the American Job Center. The American Job Center and workforce development board offices have remained open through the pandemic to assist residents.

“The job market has become increasingly competitive and many industries are offering increased hourly wages, sign-on bonuses and free college tuition to attract and retain employees,” said Director Frank J. DiMarco. “This means there are thousands of opportunities in South Jersey to land a good paying job with an attractive benefits program.”

“Thousands of businesses throughout South Jersey have job opportunities,” said Deputy Director Heather Simmons, liaison to the Department of Economic Development. “The Gloucester County Workforce partners are ready to help with a range of career related services.”

The American Job Center is located on the campus of Rowan College of South Jersey, 1480 Tanyard Road in Sewell. Our free services include:

Job search assistance
Resume reviews and interview skills
Career counseling
Training grants for unemployed and underemployed individuals
In person and virtual job fairs and recruitment events

The American Job Center and Workforce Development Offices are not unemployment services and cannot assist with unemployment claims. Gloucester County has not had unemployment located in our offices since 2015.

All unemployment claimants are asked to file new claims, update existing claims, or ask questions about their claims online at myunemployment.nj.gov. Claimants can call unemployment services at 732-761-2020.

For job seekers in Gloucester County, you can receive notifications with new jobs in the area by texting the word “Gloucester” to 56512. Subscribers will also receive our job listing.

Job seekers and underemployed residents are also encouraged to register with Skillup NJ, a free online portal with more than 6,000 courses focusing on business, IT and health topics and Job Source, that offers a variety of tools designed to help fuel a successful job search experience. Users can create a free account and get tips and templates for job search, resume writing, cover letters and many other free services.
