Presidents’ Days’ school break is Feb. 21 and the Rec. has two fun programs, “Cupcake Wars” and “Sports Fun.” Take a break from devices and studying and enjoy your day off at the Rec. department.
Cupcake Wars is modeled on the TV program by the same name. Boys and girls in grades three through eight will prepare batter, bake and decorate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Church Street Rec. Department’s ‘Community Kitchen.’
Students will be put into small teams and prepare a unique cupcake using mystery ingredients. Each team’s entry will be judged on taste, use of ingredients and presentation. Student bakers will be given a wide range of cupcake batter styles, frostings and decorations.
Lots of room for improvisation and creativity and teamwork will bring out the best confection. Winners will be crowned the ‘2022 Winter Cupcake Wars Champion’ (and bragging rights).
If you want to blow off some steam, sign up for the sports program, which will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Church Street gymnasium. Tony Dicaro and Eric Cassidy of ‘Fundamental Hoops’ will lead boys and girls in grades one through six through multiple activities.
They will organize a variety of team games such as basketball, kickball, handball and dodgeball. It promises to be an action-packed session with some instruction and lots of fun. Students should bring a mask, water and a snack or lunch.
Class sizes are limited so register early. Go to www.moorestownrec.com for full details and to register.
