Most notably, the borough’s budget was approved after a review by Superintendent Joseph Campisi and interim Business Administrator John Scavelli at a separate meeting.

“Mr Scavelli and I reviewed the budget,” Campisi said. “Everything is in order and everything went great.

Campisi also announced make-up dates for snow days.

“Since we last met, we have seen two snow days,’’ he said. “We can now say that those missed days will be made up during April on the 21st and 22nd.”

The meeting also recognized four students who were awarded for academic excellence during the month of January. Middle School Principal Therese Bonmati announced the winners. Ryan Piccoli was the recipient in the fifth grade class, Sophia Schumin for sixth  grade, Juliana Marini for seventh and Vincent Milillo was the representative of the eighth  grade students.

All other agenda items were unanimously approved by the board, including the field trips for each grade that will come at no cost to the district.

Before wrapping up the meeting, Kristen Simone announced the tentative schedule for the school’s job fair, which will take place in either the last week of April or the first week of May.

Board President Jocelyn Lewis concluded the session by voicing the concern of parents related to reckless driving and speeding during school pickup hours. Many other board members echoed what she said, asking police outside the building to keep an eye out for trouble.

“I don’t know if our school police are responsible for handling this issue, but I hope they can pass it along to whoever is,” Lewis remarked. “The safety of our children is always the priority.”
