On Dec. 4 in excess of 5,000 onlookers lined Main Street in Moorestown to view the resumption of The Moorestown Lion’s Club’s annual Holiday Parade now in its 61st year.
The parade was led by the MacGregor Pipers and the Moorestown Mayor and Council, Citizens of the Year Pete and Julie Bender, Lions Club President John Burkhardt and Ms. New Jersey Senior America 2021.
The theme of the parade was “Snow Much Fun.”
Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cub Scouts all competed for prizes in float and marching group categories with awards based on adherence to the theme. Cub Scout Pack 61 won the float category with Girl Scout Troop 27406 and Girl Scout Troop 25288/2614 taking second and third place respectively. The marching group category winner was Girl Scout Troop 26173, with Girl Scout troops 21282 and 27451 taking second and third place.
The parade also included the Aqua and Woodland String Bands, the Burlington County Special Services School Band and the Moorestown High School Band, cheerleaders and dance team. Santa Claus came down the street followed by the fire and emergency vehicles from both fire companies in town.
The parade was funded by the businesses in town which included Republic Bank, Happy Hippo Toy Store, Lewis Funeral Home, E & B Coins, Moorestown Business Association, Rotary Lunch Group, Liberty Bell Bank, Bishop and Bishop C.P.A., Carl’s Shoes, Passierello’s, Corollo’s Little Italy, Moorestown Eye Physicians, Bayada Nurses, Hartman Law Offices, Moorestown Hardware Store Merriken Financial Group, Posternock and Appell Attorneys, Morrone, Kaye and Yucha D.D.S., Intown Auto Care/Concierge Cars, Taitco., Gypsy Soul, David Ramsay Cabinetmaker, Jim Wilson, The Pie Lady, Ralph’s Market, Dennis Talty Esq., Luna y Sol Restaurant, Neil’s Barber Shop, Roffler’s Barber Shop, Maurizio’s and The Moorestown Theater Company.
