The Burlington County Department of Health is declaring a Code Blue Weather Emergency from 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, until 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17.
A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when frigid weather conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals or families without shelter. During the declaration, the County provides for short-term sheltering in clean, safe locations.
Residents in need of shelter are encouraged to call the Burlington County Board of Social Services at 609-261-1000 or the Burlington County Housing Hub at 609-265-5185. Staff there will direct callers to the most appropriate shelter. Afterhours or on weekends or holidays, call 211 for assistance.
“Temperatures are dropping so we’re encouraging all those in need of help to reach out,” said Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “Our Code Blue sheltering program is ready and we don’t want anyone to have to spend the night outdoors or in unsafe conditions.”
