The Democratic bloc of David Fleisher, Carole Roskoph, Sangeeta Doshi and William A. Carter III is poised to retain their positions on Cherry Hill Township Council.

According to the Camden County election site and with 46 of 48 of precincts reporting, the four incumbents will retain their seats on the governing body, turning aside a challenge from four GOP challengers: Nicole Nance, David Lodge, Rossana Parsons and Diane Carr.

In the unofficial count, Fleisher topped all candidates with 13,840 votes followed by Roskoph (13,560), Doshi (13,377) and Carter (13,335). For the challengers, Nance topped out with 7,953 tallies, followed by Carr (7,907), Lodge (7,825), and Parsons (7,786).

In the race for three open seats on Cherry Hill’s Board of Education, seven candidates threw their hats into the ring, including one incumbent.

As the top three vote-getters win their spots, with 46 of 48 precincts reporting Jennifer Fleisher has garnered the most votes among her peers with 10,962, followed by Benjamin Rood (7,927) and Sally Tong appears to have retained her seat with the third-most tallies (7,165). Ilana Yares stands in fourth place, Carolina Bevad in fifth, John Papeika in sixth and Nick Gaudio has garnered the fewest votes of all candidates.

Cherry Hill’s Board of Fire Commissioners race might see a newcomer take the reins to fill an unexpired term. Again, with 46 of 48 percent of precincts voting, Ryan Doran enjoys a sizeable lead against opponents Danny Elmore and David Gorenberg. In the race for a full term as a member of the board, Bill Kelly and Denise Donahue have flipped places all night, with Kelly currently ahead by 111 votes.

In regional races affecting the township, the State Senate 6th District seat appears to be headed for Democrat Jim Beach once more, as he shook off GOP challenger John Foley by just over 17,000 votes.

The 6th District Assembly team of incumbent Dems Louis Greenwald and Pamela Lampitt looks to have vanquished Republicans Ed Farmer and Richard Super by an almost 2 to 1 margin.

The race for the governorship of New Jersey will likely not be decided for some time. Although polls last night suggested that Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli would unseat incumbent Governor Phil Murphy for the top job in Trenton, the lead has flipped to Murphy for the time being, by less than 1,500 votes according to NJ.com.

In Camden County, Murphy holds a lead of more than 28,000 votes with 88.34 percent of precincts reporting. If he gets the nod, Murphy would become the first Dem to be sent back to the state capitol by voters since Brendan Byrne in 1977.
