Adelphia Restaurant was alive with food, drinks and prizes for the annual Fund for Deptford Families event on Oct. 18, an event sponsored by the township mayor and council.
“Seeing everyone there and having so much support made the event successful and memorable,” the Deptford Township Municipal Facebook page posted after the event.
Guests were greeted by Mayor Paul Medany at the restaurant entrance, as they lined up to buy tickets for the basket auction and 50/50. There were more than 50 baskets to win that surrounded an illuminated dance floor.
On the standard list of baskets, popular items included gift cards for Deptford restaurants, Halloween and Christmas decorations, beach gear, wine and Philadelphia sports memorabilia.
There were six large-ticket items for buyers to take the gamble. A Blackstone tabletop grill and griddle kit, an outdoor gas patio heater, a basket with 13 bottles of wine, a massage and self-care package, a mystery skull of goodies worth more than $150 and a $100 Fogo de Chao restaurant gift card were up for grabs.
While waiting for their tickets to be drawn, dozens of members of the Deptford community gathered to enjoy catering and drinks provided by Adelphia. Other food sponsors included Mission BBQ, Villari Vineyards and Eight and Sand Beer Co., all of which donated basket items. There were nearly 20 sponsors in total.
Proceeds from the Fund for Deptford Families event will help assist township families in need.
Upcoming events in the township include the trunk-or-treat drive-thru on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the recreation center, as well as a senior luncheon on Monday, Nov. 1, at Auletto Caterers.
