Storm damages
The remnants of Hurricane Ida moved through the region Wednesday evening, producing heavy rainfall, flash floods and a tornado that moved through towns along the county’s western riverfront towns of Edgewater Park, Beverly, Burlington Township and Burlington City.
More than 3 inches of rain fell in some areas, including 4.5 inches in Riverside, 3.3 inches in Riverton, 3.2 inches in Delran and 3.1 inches in Bordentown. Mount Laurel received 2.7 inches of rain and Medford 2.6 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
No injuries were reported in the county and damages in the county were largely minor, according to Burlington County Office of Emergency Management reports.
A home on Handler Drive in Burlington Township received substantial damage to its roof and siding, and a personal vehicle and fence were also damaged by downed trees.
The National Weather Service will investigate suspected tornado damages in the county and will determine the twister’s strength and path.
Burlington County Central Communications
Burlington County Central Communications field 366 total 911 calls and 89 additional emergency calls, plus another 881 inbound administrative calls. Dispatchers also assisted with a total of 877 police, fire and medical emergency incidents, including four water rescues.
Park and road closures
Union Mill Road in Mount Laurel was closed earlier today between Briggs Road and Hartford Road due to flooding. It is now open.
Beverly Road, between Grayson Place and Tina Lane, in Burlington Township was also closed due to a downed pole and wires.
Amico Island Park in Delran was closed today due to flooding.
