Camden County College forgives debt for 540 students

$478,619 forgiven for qualified students in Spring, Summer and Fall 2020 terms

Camden County College has been set up as a COVID-19 testing site for county residents. According to Freeholder Louis Cappelli Jr, he hopes to test all county residents. However, the site still awaits tests to be operational.

Camden County College has notified 540 qualified students that their balance has been reduced to $0 for the Spring, Summer and Fall 2020 terms. The ability to allocate $478,619 of institutional Federal CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding has made it possible for CCC to offer this one-time benefit.

“We want to use all of the resources that are available to us to benefit our students and eliminate any barrier that may be keeping them from continuing to pursue their academic goals,” said CCC President Donald A. Borden. “The ongoing pandemic has presented us all with numerous challenges. This is one financial challenge that we can help our students overcome in order to get their education back on track.

CCC will have a full schedule of in-person and online courses this fall, including for-credit lectures, workforce development, and noncredit courses. CCC offers the largest selection of degree and certificate programs, most available transfer options, and one of the lowest tuitions in the region. As an added bonus, CCC is offering a $5 per credit reduction in tuition for the Fall 2021 semester.

“Our goal for our students is zero college debt, and it can be done,” Borden said. “If your existing debt is the reason you haven’t registered for courses, now is the time to come back.”

In order for every student to achieve a college education, CCC offers affordable tuition and fees, federal and state financial aid options, work study programs, and a variety of payment plans. The availability of CARES III Grants can also provide help paying for education-related expenses such as food, housing, and technology needs, as well as or in addition to childcare, medical, and other qualifying expenditures.

To register for courses, visit www.camdencc.edu or call (856) 227-7200 ext. 4200.
