Chery Hill man arrested in connection with fatal shooting

Tymere Brown, 26, of Cherry Hill, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.

The following is a release from the Office of the Prosecutor Camden County:

A man has been charged and arrested for his role in a fatal April 4 shooting in Cherry Hill, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Cherry Hill Police Chief William “Bud” Monaghan.

Tymere Brown, 26, of Cherry Hill, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Police were called to an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Abbey Road on April 4 around 4:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting in the parking lot. When they arrived, they found Leopold McKoy, 64, of Bear, Del., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. McKoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple witnesses identified Brown as the shooter.

Brown was located at an apartment in Wilmington, Del. on April 7 and arrested around 6:30 p.m. by members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force — Camden Division with assistance from United States Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force — Wilmington Division. He is currently being held in a detention facility awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
