LRHSD logs 23 COVID cases since reopening

In February, the district had eight positive cases in total

Since reopening for five day, in person instruction on March 1, the Lenape Regional High School District has logged 23 positive cases of COVID-19.

Shawnee, Cherokee and Seneca High Schools had six positive cases each, while Lenape High School had five. A majority of the positive results came from on campus students, according to weekly reports from the district.

None of the schools have closed, as there is no evidence of spread within the buildings.

“The District is coordinating closely with the Burlington County Health Department (BCHD) and following CDC and State guidelines in order to ensure the health and safety of our community,” Principals Bradley Bauer (Seneca), Matthew Campbell (Shawnee), Tony Cattani (Lenape) and Donna Charlesworth (Cherokee) wrote in notices to the community.

“We appreciate our community’s support and cooperation. Any student or staff member who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms COVID-19 Screening Tool or being tested should notify the school nurse and remain home from school and all extra-curricular activities,” they added.

In February, the district, which educates around 7,000 students, temporarily closed Seneca and Shawnee after consulting with the Burlington County Health Department. Last month, the district had eight positive cases.
