James J. Kormann Jr., a 44 year old from Medford is raising money to help him and his family pay for medical expenses.
Kormann has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, is ventilator dependent and has several chronic, non-healing wounds. He uses a specialized hospital bed that is essential to his care.
At this time, the bed is non-functional because of a major part failure. Kormann and his family are working with the manufacturer to repair it, but the cost is high and not covered by insurance.
“I am reaching out in hopes that people will be kind enough to assist my family and I with the ability to have my bed repaired, save for other potential repairs and eventually purchase a new one when it is deemed necessary,” Kormann wrote.
“Any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated by all of us. One the most important things that helps keep me healthy birth physically (sic) and mentally is a fully functional therapeutic bed as part of my care routine. I do not know where I would be without it. Please, help us out if you can. Thank you!”
