New Jersey Infection Control Officer Cindy Hou, DO, FACOI, FIDSA, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of Sepsis Alliance. She previously had served as the first Infectious Diseases physician ever appointed to the national organization’s advisory board.
“Dr. Hou is going to be an incredible addition to our Board of Directors,” said Thomas Heymann, Executive Director of Sepsis Alliance. “As we continue to grow and make local and national governments take notice of the burden of sepsis, we need passionate individuals, like Cindy Hou, to help us navigate the system for possible change. Dr. Hou will be invaluable in this pursuit.”
In 2016, Dr. Hou, a resident of Cherry Hill, was part of the Jefferson Health team in New Jersey (then-Kennedy) named a national “Sepsis Hero” by Sepsis Alliance for its groundbreaking and life-saving sepsis detection and treatment protocols. Endodontist Dr. Carl Flatley founded Sepsis Alliance in 2007 after his daughter, Erin, died unnecessarily of sepsis when she was 23 years old.
