Mayor’s Message: Support Voorhees Police Holiday Fund Drive

Mayor Michael Mignogna

“We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.”
–Winston Churchill

Voorhees Township is fortunate to have one of the finest police departments in New Jersey. They have worked hard during this pandemic to keep our community safe and allow our families to sleep peacefully at night. They have instituted the Voorhees Resident in Need Task Force to care for our most vulnerable residents during this trying time.

For more than a decade, they have also sponsored a Holiday Fund Drive to help bring smiles to the faces of deserving local families in need. This year, they continue this selfless work.

Area deserving families are chosen to benefit from this wonderful cause. The police will provide the families with toys, clothes, food and gift cards. One of the families selected this year is a family that lost their mother this summer and the single father with three children is facing multiple challenges. The police are still taking names of deserving families to aid this year. Volunteers raise the money then do all the shopping and wrapping.  The presents are delivered by Santa Claus escorted by our police and fire trucks.

Donations can be made in person at the Voorhees Police Station or by mail to Stephanie Fowler, Voorhees Police Holiday Fund, 1180 White Horse Road, Voorhees, NJ 08043.  Make checks payable to the Voorhees Police Holiday Fund. Questions about the Holiday Fund should also be directed to Stephanie Fowler at (856) 882-1162 or [email protected].

During this holiday season, it is always more rewarding to give than to receive!

  • The pandemic will impact some of our traditional holiday events in our community.  Our holiday tree lighting and Santa’s arrival will be done remotely, and our Fire Department’s “Cookies with Santa” will resume next year.  However, our tradition of “Santa Around Town” on a fire truck is underway and will continue on Dec. 11 and 12.  Specific days and times for particular areas of town can be found at voorheesnj.com or on the Voorhees Township Facebook page.
  • Visit Santa at the Voorhees Town Center from Dec. 3 through Christmas Eve.  Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.  Reservations to visit Santa are strongly encouraged.  Walk-up visits will be available as space allows throughout the day.  Pet visits will not be available this year.  For more information, visit whereissanta.com/newjersey/voorheestowncenter.
