Thirteen years ago, the Moorestown Business Association established a scholarship program to acknowledge Moorestown High School seniors interested in pursuing a business major in college and who have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in school as well as extracurricular and/or community activities. The winners are blindly selected each year through a review of submitted applications. The 2020 MBA Scholarship awardees are Kaitlin Gorman and Kerry O’Sullivan.
MBA Scholarship Committee Chair Dan Posternock, of Posternock & Apell PC, explains that the committee spends a significant amount of time searching for the best candidates.
“We follow a specific screening process to determine our scholarship recipients, with criteria that includes GPA, a passion for business, and character,” Posternock said. “After reading over 100 applications, these two students really stood out.”
Gorman will be studying business marketing and management at Virginia Tech University, and O’Sullivan will pursue a degree in entrepreneurship at Drexel University with the goal of starting and running her own business and assisting others with theirs.
Traditionally, MBA Scholarship winners attend a membership meeting before they embark on their college careers. Since membership meetings have been put on hold during the pandemic, the board extended an invitation to the pair to attend a meeting next summer, when they can meet business leaders and discuss their college academic experiences. The MBA Board congratulates the Association’s 2020 scholarship winners and wishes them much success as they continue to pursue their business careers.
