Playgrounds reopen in Shamong Township

Playgrounds reopened on July 2 as the township encourages residents to follow the CDC guidelines.

All Shamong Township playgrounds reopen to the public July 2.

The parking lots are reopened for use, but will be monitored to ensure social distancing.

The township’s walking trails and paths, public tennis and basketball courts remain open to individuals to utilize at their pleasure. Tennis courts are restricted to four players maximum at a time per court, and all social distancing rules must be followed. Basketball courts may be used for practice, shooting and similar non-contact play, and all social distancing rules must be followed.

All Shamong Township athletic fields to include baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse reopened for “no-contact” practices, drills and simulations, on July 1.  Additionally, low risk sports (i.e. walking, individual track and tennis) have resumed

All contact practices and competition of medium risk sports (i.e. baseball/softball, lacrosse, hockey and soccer) may begin contact practices and competition on July 6.

All high-risk sports (i.e. football, group dance and cheer) may begin contact practices and competition on July 20.

Shamong Township will reopen the use of our outdoor municipal basketball courts on July 6 for our residents. Please follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for use of face coverings and social distancing. All spectators must observe social distancing and wear face masks including substitute players/team members.

Use playgrounds at your own risk, wear faces masks and wipe down all surfaces prior to use. While the Shamong Township Department of Public Works will clean the equipment on occasion, there is no guarantee that the equipment will be clean and residents’ use of this equipment for themselves or their family members is at their own risk.
